Sacred Worth Event

  • Broadmoor United Methodist Church 3715 Youree Drive Shreveport, La, 71105 USA (map)

Following the success and heartfelt response to its previous gathering, the Louisiana Conference LGBTQIA+ Ministry Team will host the next Sacred Worth Gathering on Saturday, June 8, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. The event will be held at locations across the state including at Broadmoor in Shreveport in Pearce Hall. These gatherings serve as a sacred space for LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies to connect, share in community, and experience the unconditional love of God through conversation, prayer, and fellowship.

Adam Philley, chair of the LGBTQIA+ Ministry Team, says the Sacred Worth gatherings are about more than affirmation—they’re about healing. "There are still many people who have been deeply wounded by the Church,” Philley said. “These gatherings are opportunities for all of us to learn and strategize ways we can help move the Church toward healing and wholeness. The United Methodist Church in Louisiana wants to share God’s love with a welcome that is real, visible, and lasting."

The previous Sacred Worth event, held in April, drew participants from all across the state at six different locations and inspired new ministry initiatives, including a support group to help individuals navigate and heal from religious trauma.

All are welcome to attend the upcoming gathering, whether you’re a long-time member of The United Methodist Church, someone who has felt excluded in the past, or simply curious about faith and belonging. Bringing your favorite snack to share is encouraged!
