One child, one hour is the heart of KIDS HOPE USA. One caring adult, mentoring an at-risk child, one hour every week. But one church, one school is its brilliance.
Broadmoor United Methodist Church is starting its eleventh year with Arthur Circle Elementary School. Volunteers are matched with one child and trained on ways to help him or her with reading, math, and social skills.
Many of these children live below the poverty level and many have family members who are incarcerated, abuse drugs, or emotionally challenged. Studies show that young children who are exposed to caring relationships that offer hope have a much better chance for success than their peers who are not given this opportunity. Won’t you help us give hope to a precious child in dire need of hope? There are no specific skills needed…just a willing spirit.
How can you get involved?
Kids Hope also is in need of prayer partners, reading club leaders, teacher encouragers, Friday friends, substitute mentors, library helpers and Kids Hope Angels. Each of these volunteer opportunities are vital to our service to the Kids Hope program.
I hope many of you will want to participate in this ministry at Arthur Circle. There will be a sign up table in the fellowship hall, as well as outside the River on August 13. If you have any questions feel free to contact Kids Hope Director Jan Bookter at firstname.lastname@example.org or 632-5874. New mentor training will be Sunday, August 27.
