In our Year of Love, Broadmoor United Methodist Church's Missions Committee has chosen to ”Love thy Neighbor” through a partnership with FaithWorks of Caddo-Bossier. We pledge to support it with our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
FaithWorks is an information and referral help line formed by an ecumenical network of faith-based organizations (Broadmoor UMC being one of its founding members) to help people in an emergency, and to prevent homelessness with referrals to potential sources of assistance with rent, utilities, medical care, and much more. It works to eliminate the duplication of efforts and assists us in becoming better stewards of our church's resources. It operates out of an office provided by Hope Connections at 2350 Levy Street. The two organizations work together. Hope Connections works with the homeless and FaithWorks is helping those who are one step from homeless to achieve housing, jobs, education and other assistance.
FaithWorks shares Broadmoor’s dedication to providing a "hand-up” and not a “hand-out” to individuals and families in our community. The organization exists to facilitate the connection between people in need and people of faith who want to help. FaithWorks needs volunteers to answer the telephone and enter data into the Homeless Management Information System. For more information or to volunteer, contact Laura Vaughan at BUMC 861-0586 or firstname.lastname@example.org, or Patti Shelton, Interim Executive Director of FaithWorks, at 317-3781 or email@example.com.
